Wyoming School Psychologist Renewal Overview
Current Wyoming Continuing Education Requirements
The Wyoming Board of Psychology adopted new continuing education rules in 2025 but established a transition policy for license and certificate holders whose continuing education is due with a 2026 or 2027 renewal.
These certificate holders may continue to use Wyoming's prior continuing education requirements and complete 30 CE hours during the 48 months immediately preceding renewal.
At least 10 of the 30 hours must be earned through program-designed activities reviewed and approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).

Can NASP-Approved Courses Count for Wyoming Renewal?
Wyoming's continuing education requirements specifically identify program-designed activities reviewed and approved by NASP as qualifying continuing education.
Under Wyoming's transition policy for CE submitted with 2026 and 2027 renewals, at least 10 CE hours must be earned through program-designed activities reviewed and approved by APA or NASP.
The newer Chapter 18 requirements also retain this standard: at least 10 of the required 40 CE hours must consist of APA- or NASP-approved courses.

Wyoming CE Requirements for Future Renewal Cycles
Certificate holders who use the 2026–2027 transition policy will be required to meet Wyoming's newer Chapter 18 requirements during their next applicable CE cycle in 2028 or 2029.
Wyoming Ethics and Risk Assessment Requirements
Under Wyoming's newer Chapter 18 continuing education rules, psychologists, psychological practitioners, and Specialists in School Psychology must complete at least 3 CE hours in ethics and 3 CE hours in risk assessment every two years.
Wyoming defines risk assessment as including learning related to harm to self, harm to others, inability to care for oneself, or a combination of these concerns.
APA or NASP approval is not specifically required for the ethics and risk assessment hours themselves, although qualifying APA- or NASP-approved courses may also be used when they satisfy the applicable content requirement.
Chapter 18
Other Ways to Earn Wyoming CE Under Chapter 18
After satisfying the required APA- or NASP-approved course requirement, Wyoming Chapter 18 identifies several additional activities that may count toward the 40-hour CE requirement.
Keep Documentation of Wyoming Continuing Education
Wyoming requires license and certificate holders to provide documentation supporting completion of continuing education and demonstrating how the activities relate to the practice of psychology.
Restoring an Expired Wyoming Certificate
A certificate holder who allows a Wyoming certificate to expire may be subject to different continuing education requirements than an individual completing a regular renewal.
The Wyoming Board currently states that restoration within one year of expiration requires verification of 40 hours of continuing education completed within the 24 months immediately preceding the application date.
Can Wyoming School Psychologists Take Online CE Courses?
Wyoming's rules focus on the approval and content of continuing education rather than requiring all continuing education to be completed in person.
Child & School Psychology CE provides structured, asynchronous online continuing education designed specifically for school psychologists and related professionals.
As a NASP Approved Provider, qualifying courses offered by Child & School Psychology CE can be used toward Wyoming's requirement for APA- or NASP-approved continuing education when the course otherwise satisfies the applicable Wyoming requirements.
